The Butterfield Trail garden underwent an extensive makeover during the spring of 2011. A beautiful rain garden was planted, and additional native shrubs and trees have already been selected for another round of planting in the fall of 2011. Future plans for the space include installing a rain barrel, water feature, herb garden and two additional raised beds! The garden space will also meet the requirements for a Certified Wildlife Habitat, and will be utilized by as teachers and students school-wide.
The Butterfield Trail garden features 4 raised square-foot beds, used primarily by the after-school Gardening Club, which is run by Apple Seeds Inc., and are planted with vegetables and some herbs.
Volunteers are always welcome at the garden!
